We are thrilled to announce that feature documentary Alexina B. has just been selected for Sunny Side of the Doc Official Selection!
The renowned international marketplace has selected Alexina B., un opera by Raquel García-Tomás, to take part in the Sunny Side of the Doc Official Pitch Selection 2023 into Arts&Culture category. Recognizing the power and originality of the feature film’s story, focused on the creative process of the new opera by the young composer Raquel García-Tomás (1984), Spanish National Music Prize 2020, from the moment she decides to rescue Alexina Barbin’s story, one of the first intersex people to be recognized as it in nineteenth-century France, until its première at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Along with the international relevance and potential of the project in order to establish an international film coproduction.
Of a total of 320 projects received from 56 different countries, the marketplace has picked 42 projects from 23 countries to take part in this annual event that brings together more than 300 decision makers, producers, filmmakers, sales agents and funders to support the international financing of documentary projects and the circulation of completed programs.
Alexina B., a documentary directed by Alexis Borràs and produced by Digital Films, is one of the 5 spanish projects that will attend Sunny Side Of the Doc next 19th to 22th of June to be pitched in the 34th edition of the market. We are really glad for the opportunity, so we are willing to start the mentorship to prepare our pitch and to have the chance to share Alexina B. and Raquel García-Tomás’ stories to worldwide industry agents with the aim of enriching the project.
