Coinciding with International Music Day, 21 June, the Catalan Academy of Music has celebrated Alícia Awards 2022. The annual awards given by the music sector in Catalonia, which have taken place in the Sala Oriol Martorell of L’Auditori of Barcelona.
The music was the undisputed protagonist of the night, with live performances of Rita Payés, winner of 2021 Emerging Talent Alícia Award, and Orchestra Fireluche, in homage to Pau Riba, who received the lifetime achievement Alícia Award of the Academy. Highlighting his long and outstanding musical and artistic career. Because of its central, transversal and timeless influence on Catalan music and popular culture and because it has become one of the most important referents of our country in the field of creation.
The event, produced and streamed by Digital Films, has also included the participation of the president of the Academy, Gerard Quintana, and the photographer and journalist Francesc Fàbregas, leading the Invitation to Music.The awards have been presented by the Academy members Raquel García-Tomás, Núria Andorrà, Arturo Gaya and Laura Duran.
Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagès have been the great winners, taking the Alícia Award for Interpretation and the Alícia Award for Discographic Production for their latest album “Clamor” (Fina Estampa, 2021), which they have not hesitated to share with fellow nominees.
