How would it be a world without music? Who does music belong to? What makes us feel as if it was ours?
Through a polyphony composed by musicians, artists and professionals of music industry we inquire into the importance of music in social, cultural and economic fields, discovering what it is like to dedicate oneself to music in Catalonia and putting a name to people who make music sound.
A recognition to renowned musicians’ work and a look at younger innovative and transformative projects that in a short period of time have become Catalan music scene benchmarks. All with the aim of showing its plurality and dignifying the profession, in this time of uncertainty due to Covids crisis, pursuing the values of Catalan Academy of Music Alícia Awards.
Catalan Academy of Music
Documentary
52’, TV3 – 2020
One of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly been the music. For this reason, when we were commissioned by the Catalan Academy of Music to produce a documentary to replace the Alícia 2020 Awards, which unfortunately had to be canceled, we were clear from the outset that Behind the mirror, music had to be a song to the music, the music industry and the set of people who are professionally engaged in it.
Because if there is one thing that we have been orphaned in the midst of this stormy situation, it is the refuge provided by the cultural sector, and as Oscar Rando, founder of the Festival and member of the Esperanzah cooperative, says very well: “There is no possible future society without culture role”.
Along this way, we had the immense pleasure of meeting great artists and professionals such as Raquel García-Tomás, Pau Vallvé, Ikram Bouloum, Adam Lakti and Jaume Piqué. We’ve enjoyed musical filming with Tarta Relena, Chicuelo-Mezquida and Núria Graham and learn endlessly from meetings with various professionals in the sector such as Albert Salmerón (president of APM), Joan Magrané (composer), Helena Bagué (El Pot Petit), Alguer Miquel (Txarango), Ester Bonal (Xamfrà) or Gerard Quintana (President of the Academy), among many others.
