On the occasion of the International Day of Music, the Catalan Academy of Music celebrates the Alícia Awards 2022: the annual awards given by the music sector in Catalonia.
The awards ceremony will take place next Tuesday June 21st at 8pm, in an event at the Oriol Martorell Hall of the L’Auditori of Barcelona that we have produced from Digital Films, as well as the audiovisual contents of the gala.
The Alícia Awards are given annually to those projects or proposals that stand out for their excellence and promote the creative, artistic, cultural and social values of music with the aim of promoting, making visible and giving value to the music produced within the Catalan territory and the whole of its activity, without distinction of genres or styles.
The president of the Academy, Gerard Quintana, will present the Alícia Lifetime Achievement Award to the musician, poet and writer Pau Riba, for his long and outstanding musical and artistic career, for his central, transversal and timeless influence on Catalan music and popular culture and for having become one of the most relevant references in our country in the field of creation.
Music will also be present with the musical performances of the Fireluche Orchestra, in tribute to Pau Riba, and Rita Payés, Alícia 2021 Award for Emerging Talent, as well as the finalist musicians and collectives, which you can consult here.
Since 2018, the Academy organizes annually on the Day of Music the act of invitation to music, a space in which a creator of another artistic or professional discipline is invited to reflect and explain his or her relationship with music. Since then, the writer Jaume Cabré, the choreographer and dancer Sol Picó, and the illustrator, painter and creator of the Alícia Awards statuette Carme Solé Vendrell have shared their personal and professional experiences in relation to music. This time, it will be the photographer and journalist Francesc Fàbregas, who will be in charge of starting the event by sharing his personal and professional testimony linked to the music sector.
You will be able to enjoy the event live through XALA! or through the platform of La Red de Televisiones Locales. Or, in deferred, on Wednesday June 22 at 23.15h through Canal 33.
Don’t miss it!
