The 11th edition of Participa Méliès has started! The online video contest promoted and coordinated by Digital Films for “la Caixa” Foundation brings audiovisual and cinematographic creation closer to general public and schools.
Participa Méliès was born to encourage any film enthusiast to take a camera – or any video recording device – and make an original, silent short film. The maximum duration permitted is of 3 minutes and it has to include a cinematographic trick invented by Georges Méliès: substitution trick, overprinting or scale games. Simple, but creative!
After eleven years, it has become an educational project that goes far beyond the contest, offering educational resources to learn cinema – both for teachers and general public -, paying homage to Georges Méliès and the pioneers of the history of cinema and spreading the love for film, creativity and the spirit ‘do it yourself’ of Méliès’ work.
Moreover, the contest offers the most delicious prizes for film lovers! Blackmagic digital cinema cameras, GoPro cameras, Dji Ronin drones, stabilizers and other accessories to take movies to another level.
You will find them on the contest website, where you can also find the rules, the jury, the videos awarded in past editions and all the details to join the contest.
We encourage you to make your short film and register it on the contest website. You can participate until May 25, 2023!
